11/8/2022 0 Comments New hermes beveler![]() ![]() ![]() If you'll be beveling large plastic signs, you'll struggle with the small table area of the entry level machines. Which beveler to buy, depends on your primary use. The Gravograph (New Hermes) B-6 beveler can also be used (with optional jigs) to radius corners. Chip removal (vacuum) can be a feature of these models. Cutters can be changed from "angled" to "border cut" very quickly, through a top-loading spindle.įurther up the food chain are more robust bevelers with longer, wider work surfaces, larger diameter cutters and more powerful motors. Next up (in the food chain) are small bevelers (Gravograph, Scripta) which can be adjusted for various thicknesses of material. Light duty and not very versatile, but they do perform the task of basic beveling. ![]() The least expensive bevelers I've seen (I believe) are from Scott. Like David T., I looked at the Main Trophy Supply web site and didn't see a beveler. I have a feeling it will be with me for a very long time. I have really enjoyed my Quality One beveler. Johnson Plastics and New Hermes also offer a beveler. I will have to take a look in their catalog tomorrow to see if I recognize the make. I took a look at the Main Trophy website but I didn't see their beveler. You will not find a better place to do that than right here. Like you, we are all looking to learn more. Do you know if that one is just as good as the "Quality one" one? In another thread you mention a supplier named "MAIN TROPHY SUPPLY" and they have a beveler in their catalog that is almost half the cost. I started this biz on a very low budget but it growing fast. I saw the beveler at the ARA show in Las Vegas but couldn't afford it that one yet. To: Engravin' Dave (DATAKES) I just found this web site and love it!! (my first post :D) I started my engraving biz about a 1.5 years ago and still learning very much. I will fix mine with a local machinist. There was a New Hermes Beveler on Ebay a few days ago, you might want to check there. I did this and to get a replacement is about $75.00. Mine is B-4 08137 and the plate is right on the the top of the table.ĭo not strip the threads on the knob that elevates the cutter. #NEW HERMES BEVELER SERIAL#Should be a legend plate with serial number. I have a cutter grinder but that bit is incredibly sharp still. I cannot think of how many thousands of desk signs and badges I have beveled and the carbide cutter is like the Energizer rabbit. You will be using an unused portion of the cutter then. In an emergency you can move the spindle away from you a bit and then lower it. One additional, I cannot see from the picture, but on my model there is also an adjustment for near and far for the cutting assembly. If you call Gravograph (New Hermes) and provide the model number, you should be able to get documentation for that model. I'd be happy to sharpen them for you, or you could send them off to any number of engraving supply houses. If there's enough carbide remaining, they can be resharpened at a fraction of the cost of new. You don't necessarily need to buy new cutters. The shank size for that model is (typically) 1/8". #NEW HERMES BEVELER MANUAL#Also, I probably need to replace the spring that the motor mount uses for tension and the belt and was hoping there were part #s for them in the manual.Īlso, the cutters are dull so I figured that the manual might have a shank size so I can order new ones. Keep in mind that while I am "somewhat" mechanical, "somewhat" is the operative word here. I just got this thing and plan to strip it down and clean it and make it all shiny.I was hoping the manual had a parts breakout (aka explosion view) so I didn't end up w/ extra parts at the end. Keep the "shank" portion of the angled cutter above the substrate and the pointed tip of the cutter slightly away from the edge of the substrate.įrom there, you either raise or lower the cutter, with the vertical adjustment, to achieve your desired width of the bevel. The only thing I know is that the b-3 came b4 the B-4.īasically, you have a horizontal and vertical adjustment for the cutter. The big question.does anyone have a manual for this they could copy or scan for me? Anyone know how the B-3 differed from the B-4 and B-5. So I finally got a New Hermes Beveler off of e-Bay. ![]()
